OBIO/AKPOR COUNCIL CHAIRMAN RECEIVES UNIPORT GOVERNING COUNCIL COMMITTEE ON BUSINESS CONCERNS

The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. Dr. Gift Worlu, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to partnering the University of Port Harcourt in addressing critical business and environmental challenges within the institution.
Hon. Worlu gave the assurance when he received members of the University of Port Harcourt Governing Council Committee on Business Concerns on a courtesy visit at the Council Secretariat in Rumuodumaya. The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Committee, Chief Kadilo Kabari.
Welcoming the delegation, the Council Chairman expressed appreciation for the visit, noting that the calibre of persons appointed into the committee underscores the seriousness of its assignment.
Hon. Gift Worlu commended the current management of the University of Port Harcourt for taking practical steps towards restoring order and strengthening the institution’s administrative and business systems.
According to him, shortly after assuming office as Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, he initiated discussions with the University on the need for closer collaboration in sanitising the institution.
“I want to assure you that the University has my full support—both personally and officially. The institution also enjoys the support of many distinguished alumni members including the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike, who remains proud of his alma mater.
Earlier, the Chairman of the University of Port Harcourt Governing Council Committee on Business Concerns, Chief Kadilo Kabari, explained that the committee was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor to implement the resolutions of the University’s Governing Council through the Management.
He said the establishment of the committee reflects the renewed spirit of cooperation between the Governing Council and the University Management, describing it as a demonstration of purposeful leadership and institutional synergy.
Chief Kabari stated that the committee has been mandated to address strategic business concerns within the University, with particular emphasis on enhancing internally generated revenue, identifying and tackling illegal structures, regulating business activities on campus and ensuring that all commercial operations conform to the policies and objectives of the institution.
